This genus of fungus is a plant pathogenic, brings the common root rot in plants, causes weakness, wilting and death of the seeds.
Pythium proliferate easily in nurseries and greenhouses and can cause total loss of crop production. Two attacks by Pythium, distinct:
Pre-emergent attack: This attack occurs before the seed has germinated. During this process the fungus fail hydration of the seed to be introduced into and infect it, coming to preclude total seed germination sembradasd. The attack depends on environmental conditions, which can be highly variable.
Post-emergent attack: This attack occurs in the stem of the plant where a narrowing in the neck in contact with the médium can be observed. The proliferation of mycelium occurs in these cells feeding on its contents.
- Acquire good planting material with phytosanitary quality in nurseries registered by the ICA.
- Ongoing monitoring to detect in a timely manner diseased trees.
- Remove dead trees and debris such as logs or stumps.
• VACCINE applied to the ground, antagonistic microorganisms such as fungi´s complex Trichoderma, in the initial stages of crops.
